Foreign visitors and a bit of crafting!

Down here in Cornwall tourists are called Emmets.... in Devon they are called Groccels...  well here's one on a rather fancy bike!!!  this is my friend Sandra we met at Stampin' Up! Convention last November and she's been down to Cornwall for a visit with her hubby  and thought she'd pop in and i just had to take a photo of her on her bike!  How cool is that!  the local youths all had a good look at it as they walked past too!  That is one HUGE bike! trike you get the idea! :)

So we couldn't get together without doing a bit of crafting so thought i'd share it with you today, colours a re a bit halloweeny it wasn't intentional but these projects would be perfect halloween treats,

(I was actually just matching the Kinder chocolate wrappers when i chose the colours)  But i think they are really cute,  Sandra didn't get to see the cards finished so here they are!

Any how hope you have a nice restful sunday!

Purple posie

Hi every one!  Funky Friday today  and summer holidays nearly over!  decided to make a simple box for this weeks challenge but i didn't want to make the usual 2-4-6-8 box so decided to leave off the 8  :)  and make it a triangle in stead, i'm quite pleased with it!

This weeks colours are eggplant, chocolate, celery and pale plum,   which i think look very tasty together actually very rich.

I used the vintage vogue stamp set.

So I've been super busy this week doing classes , preparing for classes and also getting set up for the Exeter Creative stitches show which my team are really excited about exhibiting at this year. The show runs from September 23rd to the 26th at Westpoint  Exeter so if you get chance to come along make sure you stop by and say HI!

Thanks fro dropping by!

Designer paper is from the sweet pea dsp pack and i teamed that with tempting turquoise and more mustard ink, i used my markers to colour the stamp which is from the Animal stories stamp set.

scrapbook saturday..... getting started!

 Creating Your First Layout
So you’ve bought all the supplies but just aren’t sure where to start. Everyone has his or her own individual style and idea of what a page should be, but all good layouts usually have some common elements:

Pictures -
First, choose the photo(s) for your layout. You do not need to use every picture you take, only those that best represent the event or memory you wish to capture. Good photo's to use usually focus on the main image with little or no fuss around to distract you from the main image,

Theme or Concept -
look at the pictures and see what theme you want your layout to have. The theme can be anything and is essentially the subject of the page: Christmas, new baby, love, friendship, traditions, etc. Think about the story you want to tell (journaling) and a title for your layout.

Colour scheme -
Picking the right colours of card stock might seem a little daunting, but the ea

siest way to choose your colours is to take the colours from your photo's

In addition to choosing colors based on the colours in your photos, you might also choose your color scheme based on the theme (such as pastel blue for a baby boy page).

A great tool for helping with choosing your layout colours is the Stampin' Up! colour coach Click here for more information

Embellishments - Next, embellishments buttons, brads, eyelets and ribbons to name a few, can help unify the photos, paper and journaling. They can be simple or elaborate. Once again, look at your photos and concept for inspiration such as using fabric flowers that mimic a child’s dress in the focal photograph.

These don't need to be expensive embellishments a button or a brad or may be have a go at creating your own a paper flowers, stamped or punch shapes work really well too. Remember to refer to your pictures for inspiration.

Unity -
The last step is to put it all together. If layout design is a challenge for you, you can work with a layout sketch or “floorplan” to help you decide where to place each element on your page. The floorplans have already taken into account basic design principles such as focal point, repetition, balance and unity, but if you are working from scratch remember to keep it simple to start with too much could spoil your page,

Last but not least don't stick straight away play around with your chosen elements first and see what works with your image(s) It's much easier to remove those "mistakes" without adhesive and will save those valuable memories on your page.

If you would like some layout ideas then check out the challenge site some of the challenge sketches are perfect for  your scrapbooking layouts!

scrapbook saturday getting started!

Four Tips to Get Started Scrapbooking

There’s no reason to be overwhelmed or intimidated when you start scrapbooking.  Just keep these simple tips in mind, and you’ll be happily on your way to preserving priceless memories.

  1. Make up your own definition of a “scrapbook.”
A scrapbook doesn’t have to be ‘a work of art’ or take a lot of time to create to become something special for yourself or someone you love. Any time you pair a photo you love with words that bring that moment to life, you are scrapbooking.
  2. Forget the idea that you are going to do something with ALL the photos you take.
This is not a healthy or realistic expectation and no one expects this from you. The easiest and most authentic approach to scrapbooking begins with a memory. Once you have a memory in mind, you can either take or find a photo that illustrates the memory.
  3. Start small.
Bigger is not always better. Pick up a great “little” photo album or scrapbook that won’t require hours of creativity or a degree in design and use paper and paste to bring color and perspective to a fun birthday party or vacation.  Stampin' Up! Linen post albums are perfect to get you started, they are great quality and come in two different sizes see page 92 online idea book and catalogue

4.Focus on personality and relationships.
The people we love are what matter most. Remember to take and print everyday pictures of people you love laughing, working, playing and interacting with others. These are the images you’ll treasure.

Once you've got all that sorted all you need is some adhesive and cardstock  have fun!

Two step bella

I have absolutely fallen in love with these cards!  these are my dt entries for the Funky Friday challenge log click on the link at the top of the page to see what every one else made.

I used the bella toile background stamp with white craft and stayz on  black inks, I used the two step bird punch and white satin ribbon.  We don't unfortunately have any black satin ribbon in the current catalogue so i decided to make my own using stayz on ink if you'd like to view the tutorial  on how to do it click here
